L'acido ascorbico e' una vitamina importantissima per il collagene,top antiossidante contro i radicali liberi (azione preventiva di alcune patologie tumorali),riduce la formazione delle dannose nitrosamine intestinali,favorisce l’assorbimento intestinale del ferro per riduzione da Fe3+ a Fe2+,favorisce l'eliminazione di metalli pesanti tossici come piombo,nickel e cadmio,che si legano alla vitamina e vengono quindi escreti,abbassa il colesterolo,e' un utile anti-stress,disintossicante dai farmaci ed interviene nella sintesi della serotonina (detto l'ormone del buonumore)
